Dog Parks in Tampa ๐ŸŒณ

Tampa is unusually well served for off-leash space. The city and Hillsborough County run fenced dog parks in nearly every quadrant, from New Tampa in the northeast to West Tampa, and most of them separate large and small dogs into their own areas.

Downtown is the standout. Curtis Hixon and Queenie's sit directly on the Riverwalk, so you can combine a run at the dog park with a walk along the water and a stop at a pet-friendly patio.

Rules and Timing ๐Ÿพ

Most Tampa dog parks are open sunrise to sunset, with the Riverwalk parks staying open until 10 PM. Dogs must be leashed until they are inside the fenced area, and current vaccination is expected everywhere.

Timing matters more than people expect. From May through September the ground gets hot enough to burn paws well before noon, so early morning is the only comfortable window. Our guide on hot pavement and dog paws covers the seven-second test that prevents it.
